Are you a bird-watcher ?

Our 125-acre campus is a bird watcher's paradise; more than 150 species of birds have been spotted.  And we have birders with impressive lists.  Judith Shaw ranks No. 1.  She recently joked that she was thinking of writing a book called "Birds I have Had Described to Me," after having heard a dozen reports of an albino sparrow on campus.

She hasn't spotted it yet, but she will.  Count on it.


Collington has almost four miles of woodland trails and paved walkways:

Collington provides residents with a network of walking possibilities: hikes through the woods, level walks, and paved walkways for pedestrians, scooters and wheelchairs.

In addition to the many kinds of birds here, Collington has at least a dozen kinds of four-footed creatures, including deer and foxes.  A number of smaller creatures, such as bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, turtles and an occasional mantis also share our land.   Jane Engle's pictures:

  Bocce and Shuffleboard every Saturday: at 11am on the lawn outside the Ivy Room.

Bocce is an originally Italian game is roughly similar to lawn bowling. nbsp;After a small ball, called a "pallino", is placed on the lawn, players compete to throw the larger bocce balls as close as possible to the pallino.

Nancie Kennedy   — former opera singer and now Board Member, Annapolis Opera, provided us with some background about Gounoud's Romeo and Juliet.   She illustrated her talk with DVD-excerpt music from this beautiful opera.
